Adjustable Beds For Married Couples
A recently told a friend of mine that my husband and I had just gone out and purchased adjustable beds.
“Adjustable beds!” she scoffed. “Why’d you need to go ahead and get something like that?!”
Well, let me tell you. For me and my husband– and I’m sure for plenty of other couples out there– adjustable beds are not something to laugh about.
My husband and I are complete opposites. I like Monet, he goes for things I don’t consider even qualify as art. I love to relax to Beethoven’s Fifth, my husband chills out after work by blasting Eminem so loud you’d think his eardrums would pop out. And let’s not even begin to go near politics.
But surprisingly enough, we have a really great marriage. I guess it’s that whole “opposites attract” thing. And when it comes to sleeping and being comfortable in bed, it’s no different than any other aspect of our marriage. I can’t live without my soft and cushy memory foam mattress topper, and he would sleep like a baby on a park bench. I like to have my head elevated on four pillows, while he sleeps with one of those orthopedic pillows that has a hole in the middle. We just like different things.
Getting separate electric adjustable beds in our bedroom has been such a lifesaver. We always wanted to get an adjustable bed, but dreaded the idea of being forced to come up with a position that we both found comfortable. And thankfully, we don’t have to. (Because it never would have worked…)
There are excellent adjustable beds on the market today that are made specifically for married couples. Instead of one big King or Queen sized mattress, you can get two separate twin or full sized mattresses that sit next to each other in one bed frame. Each of these mattresses has it’s own controls, and is completely independent from the other one. So you can sleep with your feet elevated while your spouse is doing work in bed with his head propped up, and neither one of you is bothered by the other one. You also have the added benefit of not waking up every time your spouse rolls over.
So anyway, what can I say. Getting an adjustable bed made for married couples was such an amazing choice for us. It gave us the opportunity to enjoy the comfort and benefits of regular electric adjustable beds without having to compromise on our individual preferences and needs. And that’s just perfect for a couple like us.
